Your computers stay in your control.

Remote Power only ever does what you tell it to — and nothing else. Here's exactly how it works, and why you can trust it with your machines.

Nothing happens without you

A computer only shuts down, restarts or locks when you press the button (or set a schedule you chose). No surprises — and you can cancel a command in the seconds before your PC picks it up.

Only you can reach your devices

Your account is private and password-protected. You see only your own computers, and each one is tied to a secret key you can revoke instantly if a device is lost or sold.

Your PC reaches out — not the other way around

Your computer quietly checks in with the service; the internet is never allowed to reach into your PC. There's nothing to open on your router and no door left ajar.

Everything is encrypted

Every connection uses the same HTTPS encryption your bank does. Passwords and device keys are stored scrambled, never in plain text.

The simple version

How it works

Three small pieces, working together so a tap in your browser safely reaches your computer.

1

You press a button

From the dashboard on your phone or laptop, you choose a computer and an action — shut down, restart or lock.

2

The message waits safely

Your request is held on the secure service until your computer next checks in — which happens every few seconds.

3

Your computer does it

A small helper on your PC picks up the message and carries out exactly that one action. Done.

Full transparency

What it can and can't do

We believe trust comes from being clear about the limits.

What it does

  • Shut down, restart or lock your computer
  • Show whether each computer is online
  • Run those same actions on a schedule you set

What it never does

  • It can't open, read or copy your files
  • It can't see your screen or watch what you do
  • It can't be used by anyone but you
Peace of mind

Questions people ask

Can someone else shut down my computer?

No. Commands can only come from your own account, which is protected by your password. Each computer also needs its own secret key to be controlled, and repeated wrong password attempts are locked out.

Can you see my files or what's on my screen?

No. The helper on your PC only knows how to power off, restart or lock. It has no ability to read files, view your screen, or send any of your personal data anywhere.

What happens if I accidentally hit shut down?

You're asked to confirm first, and there's a short window where you can press Cancel before your computer picks the command up.

What if my internet drops?

Nothing bad — if a computer can't reach the service, it simply does nothing and keeps trying quietly. Commands only ever run when your PC successfully checks in.

I sold or lost a computer — can I cut it off?

Yes. Remove the device in your dashboard and its key stops working immediately, so it can never be controlled again.
